Saturday at the Obon Festival
If you've never been to a Japanese summer festival, you should consider checking out the one hosted annually by the Oxnard Buddhist Temple. Dancers and drummers from all over Southern California perform, along with the many who just show up to have a good time.
Everyone is very friendly and the food is great. Its not quite Japan, but not a bad alternative for a summer afternoon.
