<tagline>I'm a digitial media man.

I like to pretend I'm good at pool, arguing, video production, and writing but not necessarily in that order. I love my wife and it pleases me entirely too much that she is capable of tolerating me. As a kid, people always said I was mature for my age. Most people wouldn't say that about me now.

I flirt with my wife every day and spend much of my time finding new and creative ways to grab her ass without my kids taking notice of my perverted behavior.

I am the father of two girls and someday I hope to have at least one more pup. Until then I'll just have to continue behaving like the third child in the family. Good luck honey.

Want to know more? Poke your head into my galleries and journals. I almost always have more to say than most people want to read, but hey... My site, my rules.</tagline>

Dancers and drummers from all over Southern California perform, along with the many who just show up to have a good time.

Everyone is very friendly and the food is great. Its not quite Japan, but not a bad alternative for a summer afternoon.

The thing I find amazing about this is that it was taken by my four-year-old.

No, she wasn't using a tripod. No, she didn't get it on the first try. She was determined to take a picture of her daddy, so I sat on her little couch while she snapped off a couple of shots.

Just as I was about to get up, the "little one" decided she wanted in on the fun. As soon as she sat down and pulled my arm around her, her big sister started snapping away.

This photo is the result.

Its official... My baby is a photographer in training.

Woohoo!

That bump sent his head straight into the corner of a guardrail at the Santa Barbara zoo.

Fortunately, the corner wasn't a sharp edge and by thrusting my hand between him and the rail, I was able to take most of the impact for him. With that, he managed to avoid any serious injury, but that didn't stop him from expressing how unhappy he was with the situation.

I spent the next several minutes begging for his forgveness, until it was apparent that he wasn't as interested in being forgiving as he was with being held my his mommy.

As I stepped away to sulk in my guilt for not paying enough attention to the little ones around me, I couldn't help but think how damned cute he was, leaning on his mother's shoulder.

"Again, I'm sorry about bumping you. And I hope you understand that if I don't take a picture of you right now, I'll kick myself later."

Instead of burying his head in his mother's neck, he stayed perfectly still, as if to say... "I understand."

Snap.

Thanks kiddo.

Watching a good one is one thing, but getting in place to shoot it, well, that's a different beast entirely.

I constantly watch the sky, looking for that perfect combination of elements. Thin clouds, spread out with a painted texture, hovering over the western part of the sky, with the western-most reaches exposed slightly so as to let just enough light in to reflect off the earth's ceiling.

Yeah, I'm a bit obsessed. But I hate it when I spot out a good one and don't have either a camera ready or the time to get into place.

Tonight, I thought it would get away from me. But, as it turned out, the sun was moving at about the same speed as I was. I drove to the only decent, non-utility pole infested spot I could think of within a five minute drive.

As I parked, I noticed someone else was already snapping of a few shots from a rather nice vantage point. Thus, I had to hoof it to a better spot.

As I walked, for the first time in all my sunset hunts, I wasn't worried about missing the 'money' shot. I guess I somehow new it was waiting for me.

I stopped, knelt down beside a long strip of leftover rainwater that saturated itself along the local marsh, and stuck my hand in the water. No tripod today. An elbow would have to do.

Snap!

Game over.

They are the types of stories that make you look forward to going to work.

Wildfires in So. California are NOT those types of stories.

It is a physical drain. Its hot, dry, and damn hard to keep up with the direction of the winds. Everything revolves around the hurry up and wait mentality of government agencies.

Getting a good shot of the actual flames usually means being in an area where you can't breath without some type of filter mask.

Trying to carry a video camera, a tripod, sound gear and a water bottle in 100-degree weather on hilly terrain? It downright sucks.

The Santa Ana winds bring more with them than hot air from the east and more hot air from oftentimes exaggerative TV reporters.

They bring the possibility of danger to people and property, the financial drain of fighting the blasted things and inevitably, the temporary clouds of ash that devastate the air quality for those in all the surrounding areas.

Wildfires also create a very real and more immediate danger to the wildlife living in the area.

In Ventura County, where a massive fire is currently consuming everything between Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley, there is no place for the wildlife to go.

The only thing nice about a wildfire is the colorful sunrise, warning you of what the rest of the day will be like.

That's especially good, because she loves to eat even more. If I could get the other one, whose twice her age, to eat as much as my baby, all would be good with the universe.

As it turns out, I have the uncomfortable job of trying to find the right balance of making sure my three year old eats enough food while not spending the entire day at the table waiting for her to finish breakfast. And I probably wouldn't worry so much about it if the doctor hadn't labeled her as "mildly anemic."

At least I don't have two slow, picky eaters to worry about. The one-year-old has no problem getting the job done at the table. Heck, sometimes I have to break things up when she starts scrapping with the cats over the remaining Friskies.

Of course, my biggest concern should be that more adventurous side that little girls tend to develop. The side that makes them think its okay to climb on things that shouldn't be climbed on, like entertainment centers, kitchen counters and me.

Being crotch-checked by a toddler really wakes you up to the realities of life as a parent. When kids want something, they will find ways to get it.

Most of the time, I like to think I'm smarter than they are, but there's nothing quite like the daily "OH MY FRIGGIN GOD, I CAN"T BREATHE!" reminder to the ballsack to make a dad switch the babysitter back to Spongebob Squarepants.

I play with them, I get into being a kid and I make them forget that I'm a grown-up. And then when it's time to drop the hammer and get into daddy mode, it bites me in the ass.

"I don't want to!"

I here those words way more often than I should. Most of the time it doesn't bother me so much, because I've developed a system of distracting my 3-year-old into submission. Most of the time it works, sometimes it doesn't. And when things get tough, its usually my beloved Yasuka who has to pay the price.

I get to go to work and escape domesticity for most of the day, while she stays home to deal with a child who spends alot of time testing her bounderies. If that isn't enough, she also has to take care of a toddler who has finally figured out how to walk, run and cry for attention.

I always had respect for parents who stayed home to care for the children. Now that I'm a parent, that respect has grown exponentially.

My wife isn't just a mom... She's superhuman.

I guess that's the price you pay for having the world's cutest kids.
